Preserving our watersheds and native species through advocacy, community involvement, and restoration.

Who We Are
The Arroyo Seco Foundation was founded a century ago with the mission of protecting the Arroyo Seco, a canyon and stream running south from the San Gabriel Mountains which converges with the Los Angeles River near Elysian Park. The organization was reconstituted in 1989 to advocate for the preservation of the watershed, including protection and restoration of the native flora and fauna.

We have worked in the Arroyo Seco to restore habitat, monitor the local population of rainbow trout, advocate for changes to enable steelhead trout to return, and operate a native plant nursery in Hahamongna Watershed Park.
